I’ve wanted to make a spell jar for years. I’m not sure why it took me this long. But this year, having received herbs, crystals, candles, and other supplies from my family for my 50th birthday, I decided it was time.

I chose a money spell jar because, although freelance writing has been great for me, it’s not a stable enough income to sustain myself in my new life here in Nebraska. I need stability. With freelancing, it’s feast or famine.

As my leg is recovering, I’ve been putting in job applications for a variety of positions — some of them writing, others in customer service. A few of them turned out to be janky, commision-only jobs selling life insurance for companies that have horrid reviews. But then there was this one…

My application made it through the first cut. Then, I took an online assessment and passed. Today, I have a phone screening to see if my phone voice meets their approval. I’ve done heavy phone work before, so I’m rather confident I’ll pass that part. So, I decided this was a good time to make my first spell jar — a money spell.

I looked up tons of money spell jar recipies on TikTok and online, but one thing I’ve always learned is that you should add your own elements, make it yours in some way. So, I gathered all of the crystals and herbs that I learned were good for attracting wealth and prosperity, and here’s what I came up with:

First, I set my intention. I held that energy throughout the process, envisioning the result.

Next, I cleaned the jar with smoke by using a lit incense stick to swirl around on the inside and outside of the jar, and around the cork.

I started with pink Himalayan salt for protection and to remove any negativity I have about money, like feeling as though I don’t deserve it. Next, I added crystals:

  • Clear quartz
  • Citrine
  • Tiger eye
  • Green aventurine
  • Jade

Then, I added the herbs, and I used a lot of them. I picked every herb I could find that had money-attracting properties and used a tiny amount of each:

  • Allspice (I used powder)
  • Cloves (I used whole cloves)
